Analysis
The reasoning behind the idea of using a space theme to create and build an aesthetic behind my designs was ignited by the research of how many younger generations are more adventurous drinkers who like to experiment with different tastes that craft spirits offer. Tastes that were out of this world, new and exciting. Also the process of creating craft spirits is longer and more experimental. Not every batch is a success, which reflects how the Luna Program (a series of robotic spacecraft sent to the Moon program) was in a way. Not every mission was a success, but the successful ones delivered exceptional and exciting results.
I decided to use three phases of the moon to suggest the intensity of the alcohol volume in each bottle, which is also enhanced through the use of colours. This caters to a more vast audience, since once again the younger generations are seemingly becoming more health conscious.
Also the colours were inspired by each of the planets (Venus, Mercury and Saturn) The use of a black background creates a sophisticated and elegant effect which also enhances the contrast in my design. The logo is embossed to further heighten a sense of contrast as well as creating an interesting aesthetic.
The patterns used were also inspired by what I discovered to be quite interesting or unique to that individual planet. (Venus had the dark intense red moon/sun due to its close proximity; Saturn had the giant hexagon storm and the rays of Hokusai on Mercury)
The outer package is kept quick simple and has a simple illustration of a rocket to further highlight the theme of the space and adventure. The interior box was created to form the idea of looking into space and how when on pulls up the gin bottle, it’s as if the bottle is the rocket launching up.
