Objective
(2nd Year University Project)
To design a series of 3 postcards to form the basis of a promotional campaign
Analysis
The story of hope and change is presented through a series of three different compositions. The postcards represent not only a journey for the audience, but to show the value and change they can create for a child they sponsor.
The idea was to represent my compositions through a desk like manner where the table would have a potted plant as the constant variable. As the images progress through 1-3, we begin to see the plant grow and flourish into a healthy and blooming state. This is meant to symbolise the stages of how a child’s life can be when people sponsor. It’s also meant to represent a timeline.
In each composition there is also soil being used as the main focal point to convey a message across. I used soil not only because it correlates with the plant theme but also because soil represents signs of blockage and feelings of being trapped. As the timeline progresses, we begin to see less of the soil and more of the clean white table. This suggests that the child was able to rise from their hardships and through the help of sponsorships; they were able to dig themselves out of tough situations that in other circumstances may have been unavoidable.
We also see childlike drawings in the soil in the second composition to suggests the child’s hopes and dreams they have, and in the final framework, we see it as a reality, which conveys to the audience of how they can help bring a child’s hope and vision come true.
